Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the things people ask us most. If your question isn't here, we're one email away.
Getting started
Do I need to sign up to make a QR code?
No. You can create, customize, and download QR codes without an account. Signing up lets you save them to the cloud and access them across devices.
What types of QR codes can I create?
URL, plain text, email, phone, SMS, WiFi, vCard, location, PDF, YouTube, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and restaurant menu. All types are free.
Dynamic codes
What's a dynamic QR code and why would I use one?
A dynamic QR code points to a short link that you control. You can change the destination URL at any time — the printed QR never needs to change.
Can I change where a dynamic QR code points after I've printed it?
Yes. Go to My QRs, open the code, and edit the destination. Changes take effect within seconds — no reprinting needed.
Exports
What's the difference between PNG, SVG, and PDF exports?
PNG is a raster image — good for digital use. SVG is vector and scales to any size without pixelating — best for design tools. PDF includes 3mm bleed and a CMYK profile — use it when sending to a printer.
What resolution should I use for print?
Use SVG or PDF for print — they're resolution-independent. If you need PNG, export at 2048px or higher. The minimum physical size for reliable scanning is 1 inch (25mm).
Accounts & history
What happens to QR codes I make before signing up?
They're saved to your browser's local storage as 'ghost' QRs. They stay there until you sign up or clear your browser data. You can make up to 100 before being prompted to create an account.
How do I claim my QR codes after creating an account?
When you sign up, a one-click modal appears showing all your ghost QRs. Click 'Yes, claim them' and they move to your cloud library instantly — no re-keying needed.
Troubleshooting
My QR code won't scan — what should I check?
Check contrast first — the QR needs at least 3:1 contrast between the dots and background. Make sure there's a quiet zone (clear margin) around all four sides. If you have a logo overlay, increase error correction to H in the Advanced tab.
My logo upload didn't apply — what went wrong?
Supported formats are PNG, JPG, SVG, and WebP up to 5MB. If the file is valid and the logo still doesn't appear, try refreshing and re-uploading. SVG files with embedded scripts are blocked for security reasons.
